Always, always keep an extinguisher within reach when owning or driving a classic or project car. Mine saved my ass twice back when I was tinkering with my old car in HS.
I felt really bad for the owner. My guess is he was in his 70's. His right foot was slightly burned so most likely an electrical issue under the dash.. The worst part was the police took him up the hill away from the freeway and the car, when the paramedics showed up they put him on a gurney sitting up facing the car as it burned. Really depressing to watch.
