Last week I asked my Lyft driver what his most awkward ride was.

He answered: "One time, I picked up a guy and his girlfriend. They spent the entire ride fighting and screaming, and revealing extremely personal details about each other. Shit like 'you've got a tiny dick and you can't even make me cum'. I just kept my head down and finished the ride as quickly as possible. The worst part is, the destination was their workplace -- they both worked for the same company"

I used to work at a place that scheduled shared ride pickups from airports, and the number of people who decided they'd pay 20$ for a shared ride instead of a 100$ private vehicle and then called to complain that they had to wait for other passengers to be dropped off was astounding.

I drive for Lyft and Uber. I have had many instances of people asking if I can cancel other riders to do them a favor because they've got to get to work or catch a flight. Or they'll say "if you don't pick anyone else up I will give you a good tip"

Which, A.) You quickly learn that any rider that says "I'm going to hook you up with a tip through the app," or "stop at the store so I can grab some cigarettes and I'll tip you through the app," those people are absolutely NOT going to tip you. Basically, the only (handful of) people that are actually going to tip you don't say anything about it, they just do it.

B.) If you are so cheap and lazy that you didn't leave far enough in advance to comfortably make your flight and pay NOT to carpool to get to the airport, why on Earth would I believe you're going to tip me?
