(CNN) Armando Colunga was watching the news in San Antonio when he saw a report Tuesday night about authorities discovering 54 undocumented immigrants in the back of an 18-wheeler truck.

The men were being detained, sitting in a group on the ground, while they waited for authorities to interview and transport them.

Colunga felt compelled to act. The tow truck driver hopped in his vehicle and drove across town to help.

"My main motivation was, 'Who knows how long they've been in there?'" he said.

When Colunga got to the scene, he noticed a Little Caesars nearby and bought seven pizzas.

I was just shocked no one died, it’s been over 100 degrees daily, last time they opened up a truck like this here, the people were in bad shape.

Was it from Pizza by Alfredo, or Alfredo’s Pizza Cafe?

Oh, isn’t that just the very nicest thing to do? Bless him for that. Buying pizza for 54 people is expensive. But it’s gestures like this that give joy to the giver and keep people who are unfortunate some joy in the tough times. They must have been really hungry. I hope they have their problems sorted out soon. It’s really tough on these people.
