I think about this a lot. Specifically how we now need everything we eat to be delicious. Isn't that a little ridiculous? For thousands and thousands of years, people ate what they had on hand, and it was usually unsalted, unseasoned, lacking in fat or texture. It was food. A bowl of lentils, a handful of seeds, boiled greens, tart and underripe wild berries... These were common meals. And now, to think that I insist that every single time I eat, things must be salted, oiled, augmented with acid, sweetness, moisture or texture. It's amazing that the obesity crisis isn't worse.

A single m&m has more chocolate than some Africans have ever had. I think I remember a documentary of cocoa farmers who harvest cocoa beans and ship them to chocolate factories but they've never had chocolate before. They tried it for the first time on camera when an American Westerner brought some back for them.
