China has a reputation for cheap mass-produced goods. And of course it does that. But it's a huge country, and there are little artisan companies and one-man shops there that do fantastic work too.
I'm a mechanical keyboard fanatic, and the best enthusiast shop I've bought from is KBDFans out of China. Fantastic custom-made stuff and high-quality parts at more than fair prices, and as far as I can tell, it's just one guy running the business. He's always on Facebook Messenger to answer questions or give guidance personally. He often shows up on /r/mechanicalkeyboards, /u/KBDFans, for direct support too.
