Also a friendly reminder that it's totally reasonable to call 911 (or whatever your national emergency number is) as well if you don't feel safe, and this is coming from a resident doctor who has admitted his fair share of suicidal people. It's actually a very, very good reason to call 911. Any hospital with a psychiatric ward is perfectly capable of helping you out, and psych wards are not the "loony bins" they're made out to be. Seriously. Most of the people there at any given time are otherwise regular, sane people who are just going through a really tough time and need a few days away from it all in a safe and caring environment.
