So I wanted to fact-check this and went to the best video source I could find, knowing that often a bunch of pictures are taken, and in some Kim might have smiled, but it really does appear that while Kim did smile fleetingly at Lavrov and others, he apparently deliberately did not smile when he posed for pictures.
That being said, while I can forgive that Vesti gave Kim the "Why so serious?" treatment, what I can't forgive is that in editing the image, they distorted the aspect ratio. Outrageous. I'm, like, offended, because I could have done a better job than that. Sad.
PS: By the way, in the above video, you can actually hear Kim talk, and it's the weirdest thing, at least for someone like me who's never heard his voice before.
