Arborist here. I want to clear up a whole mountain of confusion in the comments section. While Purpleheart trees (Peltogyne purpurea) exist and are used in many different types of furniture, guitars, Etc. What is pictured here is an Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana). That's a textbook looking medium rare tree. Brown on the outside, pink in the middle.
