(CNN) A Texas woman who killed her cheating husband by repeatedly running him over with her car has been released from prison.

Clara Harris served 15 years for the murder, which made headlines worldwide and was featured in a made-for-television movie.

The 60-year-old walked out of prison on Friday.

In 2002, Harris had hired a private investigator to follow her husband, David Harris. She suspected he was having an affair with a former employee.

She confronted her husband and his lover in the lobby of a Hilton hotel in the Houston area. The fight moved outside to the parking lot, where she hit him with her Mercedes-Benz, then drove over him again and again.

Oh damn I remember this, I was like 14 at the time. If I recall, her initial defense was that it was an accident, until the video showed her going over the guy, backing up over him, then going over him again.

EDIT: /u/ECU_BSN reminded me that good ol Clara actually drove in CIRCLES over the guy. Craziness.

I'm more curious as to why the state decided to revoke her license to practice dentistry...

...seems more logical to revoke her driver's license.

Oh man I remember that. I had just gotten engaged and my fiance was like "that's what I'd do to you if you cheated on me". Wasn't sure if she was joking, seemed pretty serious. That relationship ended up not working out.
