I actually really enjoyed the trajectory of Jim and Karen. It shows that even two like-able people can’t make it work if there isn’t chemistry. Karen was awesome: she was funny, ambitious and straight forward. It was obvious with her interactions that people took a shine to her right away. Jim’s pretty much the same. And while they had good moments, the acting, to me, was so great because you can sense Jim’s reluctance and Karen’s insecurity. I know we suspend a lot of belief with the show but to me their relationship was very realistic.
