I never understood what Charlie Brown's hairstyle was supposed to translate to in real life. Is he just supposed to be a bald kid with a little floof above the forehead..? Matter of fact, a lot of the boys in the animation seemed to be suffering from a lack of hair on their head. Was the town they lived in once a nuclear testing site..? Did all their mothers experiment with drugs while pregnant..? Will they eventually have a full head of hair when they reach adulthood..? I NEED ANSWERS.

I'd be curious to see a "where are they now".

My friend, now 73, is the one who recorded all the children who played the roles. She worked for Lee Mendlesohn (sp?) Productions who created the animation with the approval of Charles Schultz, the cartoonist. Apparently, many kids tried out for each role, but the perfect “Lucy” voice remained elusive. My friend had a much younger sister and she, too, spoke into the cassette player. Mr.Mendlesohn liked her voice best for Lucy and she played the role for years. All the kids were untrained and I think this makes them much more charming and likable. These days, “Lucy” is 61 and lives in Arizona and volunteers her time at a veterinarian’s office and has a zillion dogs of her own.

Edited to say I asked my friend if I could tell this story, and she said “Sure!”
