I used to work on the famous dogs article on Wikipedia subsection there where we collect these stories. Wikipedia has such stories from every continent.

Almost every case of somebody a young woman usually poor can't keep the baby leaves it in the trash or something and then a dog comes along and finds it. That they can pick it up and move it without injuring the baby is pretty amazing. They bring it to where maybe they have their puppies or something and that's close enough to other people that someone hears the baby cry and saves it.

It makes you wonder how many of these stories go unreported or where the dog fails to save the baby and you don't hear about it. I think it's probably much more common then we know.
