This was years ago and I have no idea where I read it, but I do remember reading the soldier and boy were caught. If that's true I can't imagine a good outcome for either, unfortunately. I hope that wasn't the case but who knows, he was just a good man trying to do the right thing
How does a boy that young end up on the opposite side of the fence from his family, did they just throw it up while he was at school or something or was he shipped to the other side at some point and he’s bringing him back?

See this kills me. My oldest looks about this kids age. Idk what I would do without him
