The Good Son showed how dynamic of a range Mac had as an actor. Going from a goofy ass kid in Home Alone to a dark sinister villain in this movie showed his ability to both the both the light and dark side of people.
If you haven't seen the movie its one of those, damn I hope a kid like this doesnt exist, type.

This was right after the major success of Home Alone. Who would have thought at the time that Elijah would be the one to have the long lasting career.
