John Krasinski's first horror effort has made a fan out of one of the genre's most iconic voices.

Critics aren’t the only ones who love John Krasinski’s “A Quiet Place.” Stephen King took to Twitter to share his own rave review of the mostly-silent horror film, calling it an “extraordinary piece of work” and tipping his hat to the film’s expert use of silence. Since King is one of the most prominent voices in horror, his praise of “A Quiet Place” is especially noteworthy.

“‘A Quiet Place’ is an extraordinary piece of work,” King raved. “Terrific acting, but the main thing is the SILENCE, and how it makes the camera’s eye open wide in a way few movies manage.”

IndieWire’s Eric Kohn echoed King’s praise in his B+ review following the movie’s SXSW world premiere. “Directed with first-rate visual flair by John Krasinski, this riveting near-silent thriller exudes the despair of a broken world with the concision of a Cormac McCarthy novel folded into a simplistic B-movie premise,” Kohn wrote. The film boasts a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes as of April 6.

Krasinski directs and stars in “A Quiet Place,” which takes place in a dystopian future where an isolated family lives in fear of a monster that reacts to noise. Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds co-star. The film is now playing in theaters nationwide.

I'm glad my Regal started playing Ready Player One in the adjacent theater 5 minutes after A Quiet Place started so I didn't have to get all scared from the silence

Saw it Friday, it was original, it was smart, but i think its best quality was how anxiety inducing it was. I wasn't really "scared" so to speak, but man was i anxious.
