I'm korean and it actually says you'll get fat if you take the escalator.
EDIT: For many of you wondering, the pole is supposed to keep carts and other large objects off the escalator. But some people are too fat to get past the pole.. so I guess it's still fat shaming.
EDIT: I just noticed that the sign also says this place is a gym. That explains it.
