SALT LAKE CITY -- There was an outburst Saturday during The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' semi-annual General Conference as someone in the crowd yelled "Stop protecting sexual predators."

The moment occurred during the Saturday afternoon session as President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency, was inviting newly called members of the leadership to take their seats on the podium.

As the groups were walking up to take their seats, someone in the crowd shouts: "Stop protecting sexual predators!"

It sounded as if a lone person yelled out, and the sentence was yelled three times. The shouting could be clearly heard in the worldwide broadcast of the event, which reaches millions of Mormons across the globe. See below for the video:

The outburst comes as the LDS Church has been responding to allegations of sexual assault at the Provo Missionary Training Center. The outburst also comes one day after hundreds of people marched in Salt Lake City to oppose questions of a sexual nature during one-on-one "worthiness interviews" conducted between LDS leaders and LDS youth.

A spokesman for the LDS Church declined to comment on the outburst when contacted by Fox 13 Saturday.

There was recently a leaked audio recording where a former President of the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC) admitted he had sexually assaulted multiple women during his tenure at the MTC and while serving as a Mission President, That he had a secret room in the basement of the MTC where he took his victims, and called himself the Harvey Weinstein of the Mormon church. The whole transcript/recording is horrifying, He admits to these things.

The LDS church had the recording for years before it was for over a year before it publicly released from someone inside the church. They still refuse to acknowledge anything on the tape exists and only talk about the women's accusations.

The LDS church has been covering up for this guy for decades, Making other victims sign NDA's, Pressuring the local police to not do anything, and are now actively slandering the women who made the recording (she did not release it, Someone inside the church did), In an effort to get other Mormons to ignore the whole affair as nothing more then the money grubbing whims of a sinner, even though the man accused of these crimes has admitted to sexually assaulting many women.

So, This is probably a large part of why the women called out the LDS church, Live, During General Conference. A lot of people are sick of this disgusting behavior.

edit

I originally said "The LDS church had the recording for years ... " This has caused some confusion, Sorry.

The recording was made sometime in 2017, So when I said years, While technically true (it's 2018) It's probably not the best way I could have said that. I was not intending to imply something else (like they had it since the 90's or something). I'm not just an interested person posting on the internet, Again, Sorry for any confusion.

I think at this point people pretty much expect outbursts to happen in general conference.

Wow. Crazy that in the live feed no one even flinched from the outburst.
