The thing that sticks out to me about this is the “actually treat your new spouse with love and respect” part, as if the woman got abused because of some deficiency in her ability to tend to the man’s emotional needs properly.

ah yes every abuser always starts out with the golden line "I am an abuser" so that every girl he meets knows that and is cautious until next time.
