FedEx driver could see me at the door staring him down while he is writing out the note and is visibly upset he would have to actually deliver something other than a note.
UPS driver would get outta the truck to put the package in-between the outside facing door and the wooden interior door while it is pouring down rain in sub 30 F temp.
FedEx once lost a punching bag that was coming from CA to TN. It was a 100 pound bag, so I assume there's a cow pasture in Kansas somewhere with a giant Everlast-branded crater.

Fedex CS: "We will attempt to deliver again at 10am"
Me: "And I won't be there again at 10am because I"ll be at work."
FE: "It will return to the office in your town later tonight."
We:"Perfect. What time will it get there?"
FE:"6:30pm"
Me:"Ok, what time do you close?"
FE: "6pm."
Me: "Well how am I going to get my package then?"
FE: "We can hold it for you."
Me: "Ok, I'll pick it up there tomorrow before 6pm."
FE: "We can't hold packages at that office. It will be held at an office an hour away."
Me: "Fuck it - send it back, I don't want it anymore."
