So, during a botched escape attempt from Alcatraz, a couple of inmates managed to take like 10 prison guards hostage and locking them into cells. When they started to realize they weren't going to make it out the ringleader decided to start executing the witnesses by firing into the cells. All of the officers in the cells were hit and hit the ground, many playing dead. One of the younger escapees was told to go in and finish them off with a knife, but despite finding living officers in the cell, he falsely confirmed to the ringleaders that they were all dead. Only like 1 or 2 were actually dead out of the entire group. Can't even imagine what that must have felt like for both the teenage inmate as well as the officers trying to lie still while bleeding out.
