After living with an extremely awkward senior portrait for 15 years, I tracked down the original photographer, set, and props for a remake that highlights how much I've grown as a person.

So you have not aged at all.

Some potentially anticipated questions:

Why did you take a picture with animal balloons to begin with?

I did animal balloons 2-4 hours a week at local restaurants in high school for some easy money. When I did a consult for a senior portrait with a photographer she said "What are some activities you do during high school or for your job that you're known for?" When she said to bring animal balloons to the photoshoot, I honestly didn't think much of it. But in retrospect: holy shit. Why?

Are there any other pictures from the photoshoot involving balloons?

Yes. To my everlasting shame, yes. (It's a parrot).

What are the animals in the picture?

From top to bottom:

Giraffe Catepillar Teddy bear torso holding tulips Swan Dog (Floor) - Snakes. Obviously.

Where did you even find cargo shorts that go past the knee?

I honestly have no idea. When I tried to find some for the remake, I couldn't find any, so I had to buy pants and sew them into shorts.

What do you actually look like today?

I don't wear baggy polo shirts or cartoonishly long cargo shorts, if that's what you're wondering. Growing my hair back out for the picture took about 5 months. I'm a husband, father, and federal consultant in the DC area. I don't do animal balloons anymore, but per hour, it's still the highest paying job I've ever had. This is me with my current haircut at my wedding a few years ago. Wife cropped out to protect her dignity: https://i.imgur.com/AcN2jop.png

EDIT: For those asking "What's the real reason you did this?

My mom insisted on keeping the original photo framed above her fireplace mantle, despite its cringeworthyness. I have a plan to replace it when she's not looking. But not with the remake. The remake will be behind what I'm replacing it with. I'll post what I'm replacing it with soon, when I've decided on the best shot. (Stay tuned).

EDIT 2: I know I got the before/after order backwards. It's not something I can now fix, unfortunately. I appreciate all 324 of you bringing it to my attention thus far. I deeply regret this error, almost as much as I regret my original senior portrait.
