Go far enough back on ancestry.com and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a god, seriously. I got really obsessed with genealogy for a summer because it was fun reading about all these historical figures even if the veracity of the lineage was dubious. If I recall correctly, I traced lines back through Zeus, Odin, Baldur, and Jesus' brother Joseph. Then you realize what with all the secret bastards and adoptions and whatnot, and the fact that peasantry rarely kept any kind of record, that pretty much anything beyond three or four generations ago is bound to be bullshit.
