Do musicians/bands ever try to play in prisons today? Was Cash unique in doing this then?

There’s an old story that Merle Haggard once told Johnny Cash, “I saw you play at San Quentin, Johnny, and it was the best show I ever saw.”
Johnny responded, “I don’t remember seeing you on the line up, Merle.”
Haggard responded, “Johnny, I was in the audience.”
