This was a nationwide ad campaign in all of Sweden largest newspapers. I suppose that nobody in the ad agencies wanted to expose their knowledge on English synonyms for sperm.
I remember being taught in my Intro to Design class something like
"Replacing O's with other symbols is easy, simple, and a fast solution to many design problems. That is why you should (almost) never do it." Even apart from the obvious innuendo problems, it's still lazy design anyway.
