I knew a guy in university who had extremely guaged ears like this. One night while waiting outside a club to get inside he heard the sound of something small and metal clink off the sidewalk, he looked down to see his hoop sitting on the ground. Did I mention this was a windy -25°C night in Ottawa, Ontario? His right ear got so cold that the thinnest section of his lobe snapped. Poor guy had two flaccid strips hanging on the one side for the remainder of the semester before he eventually had them snipped.

Large gauge ear stretches really do wig me out. But this reminds me of all the hamsters I've owned over the years and it makes me smile :)
