The weird thing about Clifford is that nobody questions the fact that he's red. Everybody brings to attention the fact that he's big, and they always see that as an inconsistency; however, it's already explained in-universe that Emily Elizabeth's love is the reason for his size. What is never explained is why he's a big "red" dog. Have you seen a red dog before? I haven't. Are there other red dogs in the Clifford universe? Your guess is as good as mine. I really hope future books expand on the lore of red dogs.
