No other injuries in incident at north fence line
A man is dead after shooting himself in the head near the White House, according to the U.S. Secret Service.
The are no other reported injuries related to the Saturday morning incident at the north fence line of the presidential mansion.
In a statement, the Secret Service said the man approached the vicinity of the fence just before noon, removed a concealed handgun and fired several rounds. At this time, none of the shots appeared to have been aimed at the White House.
The White House was placed on lockdown. President Donald Trump was in Florida during the shooting, but he was set to return to Washington later in the day.
The man's identity is being withheld while next of kin are notified.
The incident comes amid a debate over gun control and mental illness that has engulfed Washington.

Fascinating that there were 3 Redditors at the WH when this happened. One was finishing the tour, another doing the tour, and the other going to start it.

My friends and I were walking out of the white house as we ended the tour. We were taking a last picture and immediately after, we heard 1 gunshot followed by 2 others. I saw people running away from the North Lawn. A few seconds later, we were told to duck and cover. We hid behind those huge white flower boxes (the ones you see outside of the front door). There were at least 20 people behind there. We were given the all clear after about 10 minutes. As we were walking off of white house property, we could see secret service members running towards where the shot was fired. It was one of the scariest experiences there as we did not know what was going on around us.

My wife and I were about 100 feet from this as we had a white house tour scheduled for 12. We heard 3 shots, I assume whoever did this was also shot by secret service but not exactly sure
