Firefall occurs mid-February at sunset, when the golden light catches on Horsetail falls. Unfortunately, this year there was not enough snow and rain and horsetail falls is dried up. Hopefully next year it will be back!

There seems to be some confusion in this thread. There used to actually be a firefall where coals would be dropped from the top of Glacier Point. This hasn't been done since 1968. The firefall pictured in above is Horsetail Falls, and actual waterfall, that is illuminated by the setting sun.

Bummer! Because of the drought, Horsetail Falls has already run dry this year.
