The official name is orbital Station DS-1 or DS-2. While I do agree that the name 'Death Star' sounds awesome the higher-ups tend to get anal about it. There is even a bot correcting people when saying it wrong
The death star was complete mismanagement! The empire could've had like 1000 super star destroyers for the money of a single death star, and each of those can reduce a rebel planet to righteous ashes anyways.
