My grandmother didn't know you were supposed to whisk that gelatinous cylinder of Campbell's condensed cream of mushroom soup in a can. So she just broke it up as best she could and served it as lumps of jelly in hot water.
My mom was none the wiser and did the same for years until she fed some to my dad and he laughed at her.
Edit to add: - I am pretty sure grandma did minimal stirring and only heated it enough to serve. I do recall her serving this once when I was little, definitely lumpy. Though "shrewd" and "great cook" were not words people used to describe her, she was a wonderful, sweet grandma. R.I.P.
