During a night safari on a river in Borneo, the guide was able to spot crocodile, frogs, and even spiders using a torch and looking for the reflection of the light in the animals' eyes.
It was impressive to hear him saying: "look at that frog!" and then direct the boat on the shore 50m away, were there actually was a 5cm frog, almost invisible in the mud and the darkness.
I was working on a lake one summer and there were gators in the lake. I thought there were like five of them. My boss moved me onto the night shift. At least two dozens sets of eyes.
