I questioned why I would ever need to do a vertical panorama. Then I went to the Redwoods. [OC] [1832 x 5622]

I wish I had taken a vertical panorama ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The first place I visited that felt sacred, a temple, and left me in awe: spending the night in a sequoia redwood grove in Redwood National Park.

I'm not trying to shit on your vertical panorama, I just thought I'd add that anybody taking panoramas should have the longest side of the image in the direction of the panorama.

So if you're taking a standard horizontal panorama (ie. left to right) the longest side of the image should be top to bottom. Shoot your horizontal panoramas in portrait, and vertical panoramas in landscape. It's completely anti-intuitive, yet results in larger MP and better images.

Why? More megapixels. If you think about it, the image you took looks like three or four shots stitched together. If you shot it landscape, it would be six or seven. Larger file, more detail. :)
