DONALD Trump’s Scots golf courses may have been financed with Russian mafia dirty cash, it was claimed.

Witness Glenn Simpson told the House Intelligence Committee the money trail to “golf courses in Scotland and Ireland” was “concerning”.

He claimed financial statements obtained by his firm Fusion GPS for a dossier on Mr Trump, right, showed “enormous amounts of capital flowing into these projects from unknown sources”.

And the former journalist added: “During the 90s he became associated with Russian mafia figures.

“The evidence that has developed, since he took office, is that there is a pattern of surreptitious contacts that supports the allegation of an undisclosed political or financial relationship between the Trump Organisation and people in Russia.

“And these golf courses are just sinks. There’s good reason to believe he would have had to have outside financial support for these things.”

Mr Simpson’s testimony from November was released last week.

Trump’s Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, and Turnberry, Ayrshire, resorts lost a total of £19million in 2016.

US investigators believe Russian lender Vnesheconombank has defied sanctions to help him fund projects.

Fusion GPS hired a British ex-spy to compile an opposition file on Trump when he ran against Hillary Clinton for President in 2016.

The FBI is using it to probe all-eged Russian links in the campaign and three congressional panels are also investigating the claims.

Trump International executive VP Sarah Malone said last night: “This is the epitome of fake news. It’s total lies.”

“The great irony of [republican] Americans electing a “businessman” who couldn’t get a loan from a U.S. bank. Nor could his son-in-law or campaign manager” (Amy Siskand)

Trump is a gift: while in hindsight it seems obvious more should have been done vis a vis Russia, Macedonia, and fake news, the events only force us to confront and fix the issue directly & globally potentially.

Holy moly, I just realized Citizens United enabled a huge hole in our military defenses. A breach in our cyber security that threatened the heart of our society.

Citizen's United was a mistake leading to an electoral 9/11.
