I spend a weekend at my buddys house who i met freshman year. Meeting his folks, learning his upbringing, getting to know him better as a person.
Well his old dog (well over 13 at this point) from childhood comes up and shes had a reputation for being very lethargic the last few years. But her tail is wagging and shes slobering and she places what im told is her favorite toy on my lap.
So i threw it.
And she just gave me this utter look of surprise and sadness. And then lays down next to the toy and dies right there.

No, she didnt actually die but i did a little inside.
I thought she wanted to play fetch. No, she wanted to share her most price possession with this stranger and he just tossed it away like it was nothing.
