My campaign takes place in a modern-era, urban fantasy new york where magic and magical creatures are commonplace. During their first mission for the Adventuring conglomerate QuestMax™, my players were approached by a kenku child asking them to retrieve her pet Sprinkles from the abandoned electronics store it had run into. Turns out, the store was actually a mimic nest full of fridge mimics, souvenir t-shirt mimics and even this handsome boy. They got fired.

Imagine if you were walking around and found a smartphone on the sidewalk, thought "well, finders keepers" and put it on your pocket only to have it bite you in the balls because it was a fucking mimic all along.

I feel like living in such a world would be a lot more difficult.
