Gal Gadot is officially Forbes’s highest-grossing actress of 2017, having raked in $1.4 billion in movie tickets worldwide for portraying the same superhero twice in six months. So, what did you do this year?

Forbes reports that Gadot is not only the top actress of the year, she’s also the top third highest-grossing actor, period. Vin Diesel, came in first, thanks to both XxX: The Return of Xander Cage and The Fate of the Furious, in which he portrayed almost the same character twice, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was a close second. The Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman remained the second highest-grossing movie of the year until (unsurprisingly) Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened, making it the third-biggest movie of 2017, the best-received and highest-grossing movie of the current DC superhero franchise, and the highest-grossing live-action movie ever directed by a woman. While November’s Justice League wasn‘t as well received, it added a few millions to Gadot’s score.

Wonder Woman’s overwhelmingly positive reception even encouraged DC and Warner Bros. to add more humor and a lighter tone to Justice League, and it allowed Jenkins to negotiate for a bigger check for the sequel, and Gadot to pressure Warner Bros. to boot Brett Ratner, who had been accused of sexual misconduct, from production.

When it comes to box office grosses, it doesn’t hurt to play a superhero. Scarlett Johansson was the highest-grossing actor, period, of 2016, after appearing in the Coen brothers’ Hail, Caesar! and reprising her role as Black Widow in the much-anticipated superhero ensemble Captain America: Civil War.

So Stan Lee must be the highest grossing actor then?

Well... she was the only actress to star in two big movies this year. Daisy Ridley was probably second on the list, Star Wars and Murder on the Orient Express.

Because she was in Wonder Woman and Justice League.

Edit: I don’t think some of you understand this article. It’s the total combination of the MOVIE gross in which the actress has starred in. So obviously since Gadot starred in two blockbusters and no other women did to my knowledge, she would be #1. It’s not about how much she was paid.
