Source: kept track of my daily mileage on an Excel spreadsheet.

Tools: Python (extracted data from spreadsheet with xlrd, made plots with matplotlib).

Context: Back in 2016 I ran a half marathon but wasn't able to stay motivated through the rest of the year and ended up running somewhere around 300 miles, just under 1 mile/day. So I decided I'd try to aim for 1 mile/day in 2017! The bulk of the mileage was done in the 3 months before a half marathon that I ran in late November, but the resolution kept me motivated through the first half of the year by giving me a very reasonable goal to aim for. As a result I ended the year well above 365 miles, at a nice and round 600.

As soon as I looked at the chart, I knew you had to have run a 1/2 in November. It looks like maybe a couple of 10K's in March and May also. I find that having a race to train for really keeps me motivated. Cool chart.

Nice! I am currently working on my runnings but seem to totally exhausted at 5.5 miles. What is a good way to keep pushing distance?
