To be fair... when I bring up taxes, most people tune out but if I bring up parallelograms, most people are impressed that I remembered anything from geometry class.
They teach us to read, fill in the blanks, addition, and subtraction. If you can’t figure out how to do taxes with those skills then you’re not trying.
