I once left a note for UPS. They were bring me my new cell phone, 2 day shipping, signature required. I work nights, so I sleep till like noon. My note said, "Dear UPS, you have my new phone, which I NEED. Please beat the FUCK out of the front door. I promise I'm home, but sleeping." Sure enough, dude full on "search warrant" type knocked on the front door. I was up, out of bed, and there 20 seconds later. Dude was holding my phone, laughing to himself.

I was a season UPS delivery assistant a few years back after grad school while looking for a permanent job in my field. The driver told me stuff like this was common-some people would have us put their deliveries in the bed of the truck so their dogs couldn't get it.

Some dogs just greeted and waited for us to place the packages so they could guard them.

Some dogs just get out of the fence and try to bite you. I followed all the training they gave us, but this one family's dogs (small boxer and a beagle) came at me hard. All I could do was stick out the bottom of my boot and wait until he got tired of biting onto the sole.

I'm the type of person who loves every dog I see, but these didn't love me back-it was a little surreal. It really put into perspective the "dog attacks mail delivery" trope.
