I mean this isn't surprising. Even some of the people who made it seemed to know this. Mark Hamill certainly did, most of his comments about the movie have had the feel of "he knows that this will be divisive, at least for Luke fans, so he's trying to both acknowledge that yet sell/defend the movie as best he can to."

Daisy Ridley also seemed to know since she mentioned that she didn't know how fans were going to feel about Rey after seeing this movie.

Because really, they'd have to be truly clueless to not see this coming.

I’m not one to necessarily rely or point out Rotten Tomatoes stuff, but it’s intriguing that the audience score is at 56% at the time of writing this. This movie seems to be highly dividing fans and moviegoers. TFA’s audience score sits at 88% two years later. I wonder if TLJs score will change or level out over time in the audience section.
