Isn't the northern part of the 1 cut off to the southern part because of a landslide? All of big sur is a ghost town with out the bay area connected to it.
Big Sur local here. OP was indeed lucky. Julia Pfieffer burns state park, where this waterfall is, is usually a complete shit show of cars stopping in the middle of the road and people nonchalantly being in the road. Recipe for disaster.
