image for Leaked Video Shows FCC Chair Ajit Pai Roasting Himself With 'Jokes' About Being a Verizon Shill

Conservatives aren’t particularly known for their sense of humor, and Ajit Pai has proven in the past that he’s profoundly terrible at telling a joke.

The FCC’s annual gathering of the Federal Communications Bar Association is kind of like the White House Correspondents Dinner.

The FCC Chairman is expected to roast himself a little bit at these events.

Despite the fact that his Chairmanship at the FCC is inherently a joke itself, he didn’t manage to land a single punchline.

Pai then rolls what he describes as a “leaked, 14-year-old video,” saying he can “no longer hide from the truth.”.

Update: A helpful reader pointed out that the “Verizon executive” in the video joking about installing a brainwashed “Verizon puppet” as FCC chair (screenshot below) is actually Kathy Grillo, Verizon senior vice president and deputy general counsel.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated that Ajit Pai joined the FCC in 2003. »

In all, Shazam has raised $143.5 million from investors that include Kleiner Perkins, London’s DN Capital, IVP and strategic investors Sony Music, Universal Music and Access Industries (which owns Warner Music).

It also integrates with other apps like Snapchat and Apple’s Siri, and it currently sends lots of traffic to other music apps like Spotify and Apple Music, which pays it when those clicks convert to purchases.

Apple has made dozens of other acquisitions, and one of the biggest has been in the area of music: it acquired Beats for $3 billion in 2014, which became the basis for Apple Music. »

$900K spent on failed fight against Fort Collins broadband

Authored by coloradoan.com

The remaining $85,000 raised from anti-broadband group Priorities First Fort Collins came from the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce-affiliated group Citizens for a Sustainable Economy.

For comparison, the pro-municipal broadband group, Fort Collins Citizen Broadband Committee, raised and spent just more than $15,000 in the course of the election.

Fort Collins has estimated that it will take three to five years to build out its broadband infrastructure and start offering services. »
