Hi folks. This is how winter looks like during the darker time of the year, well, almost - the sky doesn't look like that to the naked eye - here it is stretched out over an exposure of 102 seconds. This means the camera continuously recorded the image over that time and captured trace of all movement. There was quite some wind that day.

What you see here is a creek that flows out of a lake in front of that mountain at the top. It is covered with ice and snow. The mountain is actually much bigger but it got a bit "shrunk" due to a wide angle lens effect. I used a tripod here. On the left is a collection of 3 or 4 hiking/skiing cabins, they are open to those who have the key, there is an official government supported system where people pay a fee once a year and get a key that allows access to hundreds of such cabins across the whole country. It was damn cold in there, we lit a fire, but it didn't help much, went to sleep with gloves and cap. The cabin location is called Ramsjøhytta. This looks entirely different during summer.

Technical specifics for those interested: 24mm. ƒ/18, 102s, ISO 100, 10fstop ND filter to allow for long exposure, Canon camera and lens, and a tripod. And for those who are further interested, you can see more of my shots at instagram.

Seeing a picture like this one makes me feel like I’m not living life to the fullest. Like I need to take time off work and travel the world to see such beauty in person.

I think I visited here last night after wandering around the college of Winterhold.
