Skin cancer survivor here (nodular melanoma). Shaving my head and getting just a couple of severe sunburns like he did is all it took to put my life in serious peril.
The experience scared my loved ones half to death, scared me, cost a lot of money I didn't have to treat, and left me with some unflattering scars to remember the experience by. Plus the lifelong worry, and vigil, should it return.
Wear your sunblock, always Wear protective clothing, always Don't emotionally traumatize the people that love you by not doing the above.

Pitting edema
