Shirley Temple led an interesting life after her career in Hollywood.
After a failed run for Congress in California, she worked in foreign affairs for the United States and was appointed as a delegate to the UN General Assembly by Richard Nixon, a US Ambassador to Ghana by Gerald Ford, and was the first female Chief of Protocol, in charge of Jimmy Carter’s inauguration and inaugural ball.
She was also a US Ambassador to Czechoslovakia under George H W Bush, strongly supported anti-communist dissidents, and was present in the Velvet Revolution.
