Single father to a great girl blossoming into a happy woman. Worked my whole life to be able to someday say “You’re college bound kid.” Said those words not long ago. She’s college bound and will be debt free.

I have a daughter who will be going off to college next year, so I can relate. She's going through the process of sending out applications, and the wife and I have completed our FAFSA forms. I tip my hat to you for saving enough to ensure your daughter's college will be completely paid for! I doubt I'll be able to say the same for my daughter, but we'll find out when we see what kind of financial aid packages she gets awarded.

I have to admit I have mixed feelings about seeing my daughter go off to college. On one hand, I'm proud to see her growing up to be a functioning adult. As a parent, that was my main job. On the other hand, she's our one and only child, and we're really going to miss her when she goes.

All the best to you both!

Dropping her off will be a sad day for you. Tears.

My wife was generally ok when we dropped our daughter off at college. I was teary.

I was generally ok when she got married. My wife was unconsolable.

I think my daughter leaving my physical proximity affected me. Her leaving emotionally, marrying, affected my wife.
