I was listening to NPR and they were talking about a lot of online retailers going storefront while storefronts are still trying to go online. A future model might look like retail stores are showrooms for products that are online.

Online stores have no chance now that people are opening actual reality stores!

This is actually what happened with Sears.

Sears started as a completely mail order business model just like Amazon. It took a few decades for Sears to even open up their first brick and mortar store.

Now Amazon is following the same path. Hopefully they won't make the same mistakes.

It's crazy how badly Sears shit the bed when the internet happened. For nearly a century Sears was the name in mail order. Customers trusted them. Had they just embraced the new technology they would have strangled Amazon in it's crib.

Instead there are about 4 abandoned Sears locations within 5 miles of my house now.
