I volunteered at an E.R. waaay back. It was usually the most boring thing, but I still remember this one guy who came in literally without one of his arms, had it bandaged it up but still covered in blood. And this guy and was all smiles and super casual.
My 70 year old dad called me on Monday. 45 minutes into the call he casually mentions he drove himself to the emergency room last week because he thought he was dying. He waited until Monday to tell me because he didn't want to mess up my weekend. :|
When I was stabbed, my initial shock wasn’t about the fact that there was a gaping hole in my arm. I was shocked to see so much fat hanging outside my body. My first thought was, “oh my god. I’m so fucking fat.” And then I started crying and all that good stuff.
