Neither. The object’s shape is a result of its purpose. It needs to fit firmly into a round hole so you get a cylinder with tapered edges. The security is not there for a cheap adapter, and it’ll work just fine for that presumably more expensive item a few spots back.
I worked at a store with a display like this. The magnetic lock just had a metal pin inside. All you had to do was take the hook off the display and turn it upside down to the pin would unlock.
