this is a great shot - i loved how the colors work together here for that natural warm (yellow) and cold (blue) contrast - and then you got the rainbow to connect them. Excellent!

Some quick background on this shot!

This was my first sunrise in the Tetons after two days of driving from Maine during a June roadtrip. This shot was taken a few steps from my tent so no elaborate hours of hiking here, just grabbed my camera and slowly extracted myself from my sleeping bag haha.

It was super rainy and windy the night before which was pretty miserable and the last of it was hitting over the mountains and that made for some spectacular and rapidly changing conditions. No two shots I have from the morning are alike. No to mention the rainbow which was pretty awesome. It ended up turning into a double rainbow, which ive posted before but I actually prefer this in many ways. I think it works better for this shot.

In terms of editing, not much was done to this one. I focus stacked two or three shots (i forget exactly how many) since the flowers in the foreground were so close (i wish i got even closer). I like editing more dramatically in general but i kept this one more natural, i think it works in this case.

Shot info

Nikon D800 Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 ISO 250 19mm exposure time varied based on what part of the image i was metering for. IE: the sky required a shorter exposure than the flowers

Looking at the image again, i made a few mistakes in the focus stack that resulted in weird pixelated/artifacts in a few small areas. This edit was hastily done in a Cafe so I'll need to go back over it and fix it/do it properly now. On the plus side its tougher to spot on a phone and no one will want to steal the image!

I have a bunch more shots from this trip on my instagram if you'd like to check those out!

I love Wyomnig in the fall!
